2012 reflection

This is the last year I will be at this school I am going to miss most of my friends and my teacher my friends are Kaawhia, Tiana, Aria,Summer, and Etnie they are all always there for me we sometmes have augumentes but we always get back together and be friends again. My teacher was the best teacher ever!!!!!

 Next year I will be going to intermediate. I am exited to meet my new teacher and get to know some people. At the same time I am scared because I might get bullied or my teacher will probably be a grumpy teacher.

Some of my favourite highlights this year are having the best teacher in the world.

And another highlight was learning so much things and achieving most of my goals.

Thinking back to this year I think that this is the best school ever. I will also miss this school so much.  

Natural disaster project - Tornadoes

In my class we did a project the topic was natural disasters. My project was on tornadoes. I choose tornadoes because it was easy to understand and because they are interesting things to learn and happend more offen. I think I did a good job on my  facts and information. I think I did good at picking my photos for the project to make it stand out. I think the hardest thing was finding information, but it was still really fun!!

Mr Marquand taught Einstein how to do something called remainders. Remainders is a type of maths. Remainders is when you divide a number into groups and what ever is left over is the remainder. Here's a example 59 divided by 9 is ? To work it out what you do now is you do 9 x6 which is 54 so the answer is 6 remainder 5.

Room15 assembly

On Friday it was room15's assembly. We named our Assembly same same but different. We named it same same but different  because in some ways we are different to others but in some ways we are  the same. When I was up on stage I was really embarrassed . My parts in the assembly were the e pal skit,talents ,100 people graph and synonyms . The things that were challenging were my script by knowing it off by heart. This is the order we did our Assembly in firstly we did greetings then synonyms , game show, epal skit,prezi, if the world shrunk to 100 people posters,Talents and cow to glass skit.

The great egg drop challenge

Last week we did something called the great egg drop challenge. We did it in groups it was a big challenge this is what happend. Mr Marquand got a real egg and we had 12 minites to make something around the egg so that when Mr Marquand drops the egg it wouldn't splat open this is what we got 2 and a half peices of news paper three straws and 2 ice block stickes. Unfortunately we didn't win India won but at least we gave it a go. It was awesome!!!!!!!

If the world was 100 people

It is to hard to imagane how many people are in the world so we did a project with shrinking the world down to 100 people. We did this in pairs and my partner was Jahmin. Doing this project was pretty hard because I had to get the lines on the dot and perfect. For Jahmins and my project we did a graph on how many people can read and write and how many that cant. We learnted that out of every 100 people 17 cant read and write and 83 can read and write. In some ways it was fun and it turned out to look awesome.

Same same but different

Mr Marquand showed room 15 all these diffrent photos of many diffrent people.

As soon as I saw it I thought it was really interesting and when I started getting into it and doing it, it was fun. We got to have a big play around with the photos and it usually fitted into each face and it look really awesome. I chose this photo because it fitted in really well with the face. That activity was really fun. 

Adding detail

Mr Marquand has been teaching us how to make a really short sentence like the dog barked into a really long interesting story and this is an example. I have made that example longer .

The big fat brown bulldog barked loudly as I slowly walked to the yellow flash gate. My whole body was shivering and at the same time my heart was pounding. All I could see was darkness and I knew that meant bad luck. All I could do was run.

Hi every one I am going to talk to you how to get the answer to 2/3s of 27. First you look at the denominater and that is how many pieces make up a whole. And then you look at the numerator and that is how many groups youve got. Because 27 into 3 groups is 9, the answer is 18 because 2 groups of 9 is 18.

kaleidoscope

Hi every body this is Awhina.Today I am going to talk to you about kaleidoscopes. Kaleidoscopes are cool but at the same time confusing what way to rotate and refleced .I felt really proud of what I did .a I think it was realkly really cool with the patterens the thing I like about the patternes is that if your close up you can see what it is but from far away you can see cool patternes.

ANZAC war reflection

The thing i found most interesting was learning about living in the trenchers .I think it would be really bad and stink in the trenchers because people have dyarea and do there business in there.

I want to find out more about war because I don't know that much about it.

Soof the things i learnt are living in trenchers , Anzac, and poppy's and not really but the piece sign.

The things i mostly remember about the topic is about the senses i think they would be really really bad and you would get really really sick and maybe even die not because of people shooting you  because of the cemacyles in the trenchers.

I used to think that war was bad but now i think its OK because you get piece but I'm sort of in the middle i think that its bad but i also kind of OK.

it is impotent to learn about war because it might happen in new zealand and we might  know what to do because we have been learning about war.

Stop motion explanation

Do you want to know how to make people look like they’re doing something no one can even do? You can when you do stop motion. Do you even know what stop motion is? Stop motion is a video that is made from pictures instead of a video camera.

The things you will need to make a stop motion are: A Tripod, A computer, A digital camera, you will also need video spin, windows movie maker or imovie on your computer.
First to make a stop motion you need to plan your stop motion. Then you put the camera on the tripod. Then you take the camera and tripod to where you want to take a photo and then you take a photo. Move the object or person and take another photo and keep moving the object or person until you have enough photos. Then you turn your photos into a video on video spin or windows movie maker. There is your master piece.

Global shool project post

I emailed to the teacher in turkey.I emailed the teacher in turkey because I wanted ten photos to see the diffrents between our school and there school.I learnt that if you write the rong email pass word it wont send.Ialso learnt what to go on to email people. And I learnt that you can email people from over seas.I would like to learn how to read there email.

Introducing me

Hi my name is Awhina, I am a year 6. One place I'd love to go is to Disneyland because they have so many cool things there. My parents were born in Huntly but moved to Hamilton because she thought it wasn't safe enough in Huntly.
Some things I love are sports, animals, music, friends, whanau, food, and TV. This is a collage portrait of me. To make this I had to cut photos about me from magazines and then rip out little pieces of paper for the background .
